Numara training in Dallas, pt #2
Wednesday, June 3, 2009, 02:25 PM - School
I'm back! I'm in the middle of day 3, so i can now post about day 2.

I woke up to a nice gray cloud. When i walked into the training room it was pouring outside. Good thing i didnt have to leave the building to get to training.

Last night i took an earlier shuttle to the Galeria mall. Still the same mall, this time i tried to find specific store. The Mall directory was horribly out of date. The only two places i wanted to go were not actually there.

I wandered around for a while before deciding to walk to the next complex to the north. I got all excited when i finally found out how to get there. When i rounded the corner to the building i was hoping was a movie theatre, it turn out to be a furniture store. :( On to the next store! Furniture store >:( On to the next! Shoe store.. grrr! One more try! Lakeview teaching store. Wonderful. I turned around and walked back to the mall. On the way back i found a World Market behind yet another furniture store. Inside i found some bacon chocolate.

After my long walk i had pizza for dinner. Sbarro FTW! i saved my stromboli for my lunch the next day.

Numara training in Dallas, pt #1
Monday, June 1, 2009, 10:00 PM - Family
So i was sent to Dallas for training on Numara Footprints (help desk software). This is the account of my journey ;)

Yay, plane was cramped, but i had all 3 seats to myself, so it wasnt too bad. A little black girl, who was about 1 year old, was sitting in front of me and she was adorable. I played some DS, watched "the boy in the striped pajamas" and ate a sandwich.

I'm staying at a Hilton Hotel, which i will post about next time when i get batteries for my camera.

This brings me to my next picture the soda cabinet. I was sad that i didn't get a free breakfast, but i was pleasantly surprised when i found out my training provided free snacks and food and stuff. They have a whole cabinet full of pop, bagles, fruit, granola bars, cookies, etc.

Here is the view from my hotel window, 5th floor. This place is flat as a pancake. But what really surprised me is that its super dark here. No lights like anywhere, where are all the street lights? Not even the city it lit up. Strange...

The first night after i got here i went to the mall to find some food and a treat for my girls. It was quite the mall, it even had an ice skating rink inside!

I decided to go to 5 guys burger and fries, and the potatoes were from Driggs! I told there girl i was in Driggs last weekend and she just looked at me and continued what she was doing. Hey, i felt special...

The straw that broke the camels back...
Thursday, April 9, 2009, 10:23 PM - Rants
So i have been contemplating the removal of my hotmail account. After all, its crap. gmail offer so many more options that are fast, COMPATIBLE, and easy, but i have been putting it off for a while not wanting to move everyone around. After all i've had my hotmail account for over 11 years now.

I only have a couple people who still e-mail me on that account, mostly people who i havnt talked to in years. Well a friend of mine sent me an e-mail last night, and i wrote him back. Tonight i went to see if i got a reply and i was greeted with this crap.

=====================================

There is a constant loop. It says "You don't have an inbox... yet." The only option given is to "Sign up for Windows Live Hotmail". When I click that there is an option that says "Already a Hotmail..... member? Click here." This link simply brings me back to point A where it says "You don't have an inbox... yet."

Yes, this brings joy to my soul. Joy! After some hunting i found i was not alone with this. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 947AAFDqrW

If my inbox ever returns, i will be doing an official migrate to gmail. Sorry Microsft, but you've dicked me over for the last time. If you refuse to live by the worlds standards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid3#Desktop_browsers), then i refuse to use your products.

Farewell hotmail, you wont be missed.

Abbey and her tent.
Sunday, March 22, 2009, 12:30 PM - Family
Tonight we busted out the big foam building thingies. They are foam poles with magnets on the ends, and little balls with holes in them to click together. We used every single piece that would could and built a huge fort. We had all sorts of fun. I would have loved these things as a kid!

Right before she went to bed, she decided that it needed to come down. I wish i had gotten a picture of that, it looked like a tornado that had gone through a trailer park.

Chicken
Tuesday, March 17, 2009, 12:41 AM - Family
Today i decided to try my hand at smoking. I defrosted a few chicken breasts, rubbed them in Grandpa Lynn's seasoning and let them sit for a couple hours. For the grill i set up a smoke pouch filled with cherry wood chips, and a indirect grilling for the chicken. It took a little while to get up to heat and start smoking, so i got a little impatient and turned the heat up. Hey, we were hungry!

Even though i sped it up, it turned out very nice!

For my birthday i held a BBQ. My family, or what part of my family that was in town and that could come, came over and i made Rib Eyes for all of them. I got a few gift cards, some shirts, and a new desk chair from the wifey. Its super nice. I spend a lot of time in it with my current job, so its a nice addition to my new office.

Thanks wifey!

Oh craigslist!
Thursday, February 26, 2009, 04:24 AM - Family
Since our move to the city, i have discovered things that just wern't possible in my little Idaho town. I have discovered craigslist. Not that i didnt know what it was, but up in Idaho hardly anyone used it. Well, since i noticed people actually put up things that are screaming deals, i have been keeping a close eye on it.

While at work i saw someone offering some free wii games and guitar hero controllers. I e-mail him, and after a back and forth of about 15 e-mails he said that i could have 3 wii games and the 2 guitars for FREE! Ya, all i had to do was come pick them up. He said that his friends didnt like playing it anymore because they got rock band.

I got: Super smash brothers, Guitar Hero 3, and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

On my way out, i had all these crazy thoughts about someone luring me out to kill me or rob me or something. All was fine. Hey man, THANKS!
